    'Phyllis'ophically Speaking:
    A Message from Phyllis Schwartz,
    Keep In Touch Founder

Happy holidays, friends of Keep In Touch.

It’s hard to imagine that we are already welcoming the winter holiday season, with a new year not far behind. As you all know, this is a joyous time of year … as well as a very hectic one.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage this past year. We at Keep In Touch value each and every one of you, our valued customers. And we hope that you will continue to think of us for your personal massage therapy needs, as well as gift giving.

Truly, massage is one of the most special gifts you can share with a friend or loved one. And when you give someone a Keep In Touch reloadable gift card, you are giving me the greatest compliment that I could ever hope for. You are inviting someone important in your life to experience Keep In Touch for themselves. And when your friends or loved ones visit a Keep In Touch Massage Center, I promise you that we will ensure that their time with us is relaxing and memorable. No doubt, they will be greatly appreciative of your generosity after enjoying a session with us.

While it’s natural to focus on others at this time of year, my best advice is to not forget yourself in the equation. With so much on everyone’s plate, there is no better time to slow down and relax, if only for an hour. You’ll be amazed by the difference in your increased energy level and holiday spirit.

Wishing you and yours all the best this season!

    Phyllis Schwartz

Warm up this holiday season with a Hot Stone Massage

By Mary Jo Patnode and Teresa Novachek

In recent years, Hot Stone Massage therapy has gained popularity with massage centers and customers alike. But many customers see the promotions and wonder: “What is Hot Stone and why would I want to experience it?” “The simple answer,” according to Phyllis Schwartz, founder of Keep In Touch Massage Centers, “is that it is a wonderfully therapeutic and healing treatment that gets to the source of pain, working to draw it out with stimulating heat.”

Hot Stone Massage Therapy involves smooth, water-heated basalt stones. Originally a technique used in ancient cultures, the hot thermal therapy affects circulation and provides a method to reach deep tissue for healing. The technique is especially helpful for those who suffer acute and chronic injuries or conditions, such as muscle spasms and osteoarthritis.

“Since the hot stones are used to massage the body,” said Schwartz, “you receive the same rewards as a Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and trigger point work.” The added benefit is heat that penetrates the muscle and tendon, providing deeper work with less pressure. The smooth texture of the rock and the heat provides dramatic stress-reducing results, as well. Many customers often relax into a deep meditative state early in their sessions.

The stones are stored in the hot water of an electric roaster in the therapy room. You will hear the subtle, natural clinking of the stones as they are handled and during the session. Before your session even begins, stones are placed under your back along your spine and small stones are placed between your toes and in the palms of your hands. You will feel the heat immediately and start to relax your muscles. The massage session is 1½ hours, due to the extra time needed for working with the stones.

    A new spin on relaxation

At Keep In Touch, we have added a slight enhancement to this ancient form of treatment to further enhance your experience. We combine a hands-on massage with our hot stones. Using Swedish massage principles, our therapists incorporate the hot stones into your session. In many ways, the hot stones become an extension of your therapist’s hands.

Note: Hot Stone massage cannot be given to people with conditions, such as diabetes complicated by neuropathy or pregnancy. Be sure to check the Keep In Touch location closest to you for prices and availability. Remember, Hot Stone Massage makes a great gift for the holidays!

At Keep In Touch, we take pride in our community and feel it is important to give back. This month, Keep In Touch Donated 500 Massage Certificates to Toys for Tots Volunteers.

    Toys for Tots
Keep In Touch Massage is collecting toys for our local U. S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Collection will run through Dec. 23. The mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys at Christmas to needy children in our community.

As presented during the KARE 11 Toys for Tots segment on December 9th, in appreciation of the dedicated efforts and giving spirit of Toys for Tots workers and volunteers, Keep In Touch Massage Centers is donating 500 “Complimentary ½ Hour Massage” coupons for distribution to those workers and volunteers. It’s our way of saying thank you to those who make a difference in making the Holiday Season brighter for the many who receive the benefit of their efforts.
